Jen and I came to you last week with a proposal. We didn’t ask you to put a ring on it (us?), but we did ask you to hang out with us in real life. For internet people, this is almost the equivalent of committing to marriage. Luckily, you didn’t throw up, pass out, or flat-out say no. If you did, you hid it well and composed yourself before leaving a comment. This is a good sign.
Maybe if we are all wearing the shirt, this wont happen…
So what’s next you ask?
Well, Jen and I gathered up the responses and made a list of where everyone is located. At first, I felt like I was a detective solving a murder by drawing connections on a map while smoking a lot of cigarettes in the dark. Then I just felt like I was a cyber stalker. Either way, it felt right.
There seems to be a great divide in the WordPress world. Half of you (who participated) are spread out on the West coast and the other half on the East coast. There were not too many bloggers located in the middle. I was, however, pleasantly surprised to see that a few other southerners popped out from behind their fried chicken and waffles to give a thumbs up for the meet up. *waves*
Here is what we are going to ask you to do next. There are three polls below for you to cast your vote on a location that we have picked. We performed all kinds of high-tech mapping strategies, statistics, probability reports, and background checks to narrow down the choices. We assure you that the options listed are in everyone’s best interest. SO, if you are a tentative “yes” for the meet up, then cast your vote now! Just state which location you would prefer the most in the comments.

I always wanted to go to Austin, and California is the place you oughta be, Pittsburgh…ugh. Anyplace in the south that isn’t dry or overrun with evangelists is a good choice; especially N’orleans because I’ve never been there.
I’d even go to Pittsburgh if that is the decision because this is really the most awesome event in the history of events. You and Jen will have to wear tiaras the entire time for coming up with this. And of course you’ll never have to buy your own drinks…wait, that’s what this is about isn’t it? Free drinks for Becca and Jen. Hmmm.

I think the two that jump out at me are El Salvador and Humptulips, Calif….. *scrolling back, scrolling back* … Whoops, sorry — wrong blog. I thought this was the Fetish meet-up. I’d say either Las Vegas (cheap flights and I’ve never been there) or San Francisco Bay area (Rice-a-Roni and I’ve never been there sober before). Keep me in the loop with how to help with the t-shirts, and where I need to send my image should I have to attend by proxy!

Amy, that is great to hear! Somehow I feel we may end up with three different meet ups. Next, we will figure out some dates so that those willing to travel outside of their area can have a heads up and make arrangements.

I have certain interests in Detroit but none of them have to do with the actual city. I considered Chicago, but I think the options we narrowed it down to seem to be working out nicely so far.

While I dislike Vegas to no end, Rich is right in that the flights are the cheapest. Somewhere in the middle seems to be the most fair. While NY might be a blast, it seems like hotels in NYC will be $$$$.

How is your plan coming along?
I’m at the ‘I despise myself stage’ it took a few months to get past this back in my 20s……something tells me it will be worse with age. I do expect things to be settled decently by next fall though, if you are still in Louisiana and I am in Miami, the logistics for our date should be pretty straight forward.
Personally I feel something in the middle would be nice compromise, well that’s what I told me dates in the past and they came to agree after dinner was paid for. Because of a medical condition flying cross continent can fuck me up. I would say Houston or N’Orleans.
If however everyone votes on or agree on NCY I would be happy to help with the setting it up because I live here etc

Actually, come to think of it, Austin would be a better city in terms of things to do. I heard it’s the Portland of Texas which makes me personally interested.
